I like kites, even if I don't fly one every day.
My interest grew after getting a copy of David Pelhams's book. I soon finished a simple box kite, built of wood and nylon lining fabric, and far too heavy as it turned out. It never got above some 20 degrees, I suppose.
After that, a flare followed, flying well even when the wind is hardly noticeable. From garbage bags, I produced a large number of Allison sleds, singles, doubles, with and without vents, tails and streamers.
With the advent of two-line stunters, things picked up again. Easy and fun to fly. Even if not the most sophisticated, I like Speedwings for their simplicity. I still don't have a quad.
Focus is now shifting into KAP: Kite Aerial Photography. A nice blend of kiting, kite construction, tinkering and photography. However, the acquisition of a new home has forced me to put KAP on hold, at least for a while.
By the way, I am still looking for someone to finance building the biggest kite in the world, possibly about 2000 square meters. Mail me if you are interested.
